Wizard World Chicago

Yes, I actually went to a comic book convention, even though I went alone I had a good time. I got some good deals, met some writers and artists and met Sinro. Pictures are located in Flickr. Here’s a brief rundown of my Saturday at Wizard World Chicago.

  • 10:40 AM – I overslept and woke up around, an hour late.
  • 10:55 AM – After a rolling around for a mintues, I get up checked my email, printed a copy of my ticket receipt in case, they don’t have my ticket at “Advance Purchase”
  • 11:07 AM – Shit, shower and shave, got dressed and stuff my bag with tpb that I wanted to get autographed
  • 11:25 AM – Jump in the car made a quick stop at CVS and headed to the southside
  • 11:50 AM – Parked my car at a friends house and walked to 95th & State to catch the red line
  • 12:10 PM – Got off the red line at Washington and walked to the Blue line train station
  • 12:30 PM – Passed Irving Park and noticed that I wasn’t the only one on the train going to WWC
  • 12:47 PM – Got off the train and walked to Donald E. Stevens Convention Center and picked up my convention badge
  • 1:15 PM – Walked around in circles trying to find what’s what.
  • 1:30 PM – Saw actress Margot Kidder, who looked really old and saw wrestling legends Mick Foley and Virgil
  • 1:45 PM – Saw the long ass line to get an Alex Ross autograph and realized I wasn’t going to get my Kingdom Come signed.
  • 2:01 PM – Wandered around the vendor booths and bought the first 4 issues of the Star Brand for $2.50
  • 2:05 PM – Proceeded to spend over $300 in comics, T-shirts and DVDs
  • 3:15 PM – Tried to get in line to get my Astonishing X-men tpb signed by artist John Cassaday but was too late.
  • 3:16 PM – Realized I was early enough to wait for the Brian Michael Bendis signing though.
  • 4:05 PM – My legs have gone to sleep 3 times since waiting in line.
  • 4:35 PM – BENDIS! runs in from a press conference and starts his signning and taking pictures with fans.
  • 5:15 PM – I actually meet BENDIS! and I have nothing to say to him :sad_wp:
  • 5:17 PM I decide on another sweep of the vendor booths and get a DVD of the really bad FOX tv movie adaptation of Generation X.
  • 5:35 PM – Lug a huge bag of crap back to the blue line and make my way back home.

It was a long and fulfilling day and I really enjoyed myself. Can’t wait for the next Wizard World Chicago.

I wish they had something like that in the Sip.. I remember that trashy ass GenX movie. Wouldnt have wasted my money..LOL

I remember that GENERATION X show! I went to college with the dude who played SKIN! Lets go to a STAR TREK convention!

I would vote for the STAR TREK convention too. Especially if its at the Hilton in Vegas. Last time I was there it was the site of the STAR TREK EXPERIENCE … of course now the whole thing has been assimilated by BORG 4D.
